Targeted Sports Program

The program

Built for aspiring dancers

The Targeted Sports Program – DanceX is designed to contribute to the development of identified aspiring young dancers across a range of styles, including contemporary, ballet, jazz and hip hop, providing them with style-specific learning experiences and strength and conditioning throughout the year.

To support these dancers, TSP–DanceX athletes take part in a program built around four commitments:

Weekly training

Weekly sport every Wednesday, 1.35–3.15pm, developing strength, conditioning and choreography, and improving fundamental skills, knowledge and fitness.

An additional before-school or recess strength and stretch rehearsal may be needed at times, to be advised.

Performance opportunities

A range of opportunities to perform and represent Kingscliff High School through the year. See Performances below.

Expert teaching

Access to high-quality teaching and development opportunities through guest choreographers, workshops and performances.

Healthy, informed dancers

Personal development of dance training knowledge and the components that build strong, healthy dancers.

Across the year, TSP–DanceX dancers represent Kingscliff High School at the following performances.

Far North Coast Dance Festival

Junior Company, Intermediate Company, Ballet Company, Hip Hop/Jazz Group.

Twin Towns Tweed Heads, late June each year.

Creative and Performing Arts Evening

Junior Company, Intermediate Company, Ballet Company, Hip Hop/Jazz Group.

Kingscliff High School, Term 2 Week 10, July each year.

Schools Spectacular

Sixteen students selected to perform.

Sydney, November each year.

The team

TSP–DanceX is led by three program coaches, between them covering contemporary, ballet, jazz and hip hop, and more than 70 years of dance teaching.

Cost

The cost of the 2027 TSP – DanceX program for successful applicants is outlined below. Payment is due upon acceptance of an offer.

*The uniform cost is optional and is not required to participate in the program. +Total shown is the program fee only. Add $75 if purchasing the optional uniform.

Entry to KHS Sports Excellence programs is by selective entry and can be highly competitive. Applications for the 2027 TSP – DanceX program are completed online.

KHS Sports Excellence Application 2027 - Targeted Sports Program - Dance

Eligibility

The KHS Sports Excellence programs are open to all students in Years 7-12. Students who are successful in their application must:

Represent the school

Actively represent KHS in sport throughout the year, and commit to representing the school at zone, regional and state level where selected.

Support school carnivals

Demonstrate commitment to KHS carnivals.

Attend all training

Commit to attending all training sessions, and maintain a minimum of 85% attendance to remain in their chosen program.

Maintain school conduct

Maintain a satisfactory record of school conduct.

Any athlete who does not maintain these requirements may be removed from the program.
