Student opportunities and activities

At Kingscliff High School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.

Our programs may include:

• school sport, athletics and inter-school competitions
• creative and performing arts groups and showcases
• cultural and language activities
• excursions and incursions
• public speaking and debating
• interest-based clubs
• student leadership opportunities
• activities that support high potential and gifted learners.

School Sport

School Sport is an aspect of high school that most students look forward to. All students will have the opportunity to select from a range of sports held at school.

Selecting a sport

Students will be able to choose from a range of sports to meet their individual interests to be held at school. Refer to the Sports Coordinator for further information.

• Years 7 - 10 Sport - Wednesday afternoon (1:35pm - 3:15pm)
• Years 11 and 12 - Sport is not compulsory

Swimming Carnival

The KHS Swimming Carnival occurs early in Term 1. Apart from age races, there is plenty to do - cheering for your House, participating in novelty events or just being with your friends. Attendance is compulsory, as for any other school day.

Cross Country and Athletics Carnival

Both carnivals take place in Term 2. In addition to races and field events, there are novelty events so you will have the opportunity to join in the fun! Attendance is compulsory, as for any other school day.

SRC – Student Representative Council

At Kingscliff High School, the Student Representative Council (SRC) plays an important role in giving students a voice within the school community.

The team is made up of nominated and selected student leaders.

Students work to represent ideas, concerns, and feedback from their peers, ensuring that all voices at every year level are heard and valued.

Through regular meetings and initiatives, the SRC helps organise school events, supports fundraising and community projects, and contributes to creating a positive and inclusive school environment.

Throughout the year, the SRC organises and supports a range of events that bring the school together and promote school spirit. These may include activities such as Harmony Day celebrations, themed mufti days, and raising awareness of important foundations and causes in our local and global community.

The SRC actively fundraises with our annual Bunnings BBQ, school bake sales and raffles, with proceeds going towards supporting community groups, disaster relief efforts, or school-based projects that benefit students directly.

Being part of the SRC encourages leadership, teamwork, and responsibility, empowering students to make a meaningful difference in their school while developing skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.

Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.

Trips and excursions

Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
